Infineon Completes Sale of Thailand Backend Facility to MPI, Strengthening Long-Term OSAT Partnership

Infineon Technologies AG has finalized the sale of its backend manufacturing facility located in Bangkok/Nonthaburi, Thailand, to Malaysian Pacific Industries Berhad (MPI), a long-standing and trusted supplier of Infineon. Following the completion of the transaction, the two companies have entered into a long-term supply agreement, reinforcing their strategic collaboration.
Headquartered in Malaysia, MPI is an investment holding company with deep expertise in semiconductor manufacturing services. Its subsidiary, Carsem, has been providing outsourced semiconductor assembly, packaging, and test (OSAT) services to global customers for more than five decades. As part of the transaction, MPI will assume full operational responsibility for the site and retain all production-related employees, ensuring continuity and strong long-term career prospects for the workforce.
Infineon remains strongly committed to Thailand, which offers a dynamic semiconductor ecosystem supported by a reliable network of suppliers and partners. In January 2025, Infineon began construction of a new backend manufacturing facility in Samut Prakan, south of Bangkok. Together, the divestment of the Nonthaburi site and the investment in a new facility reflect Infineon’s manufacturing strategy of balancing internal production with trusted OSAT partnerships to enhance operational efficiency, flexibility, and resilience across its global manufacturing footprint.
