Infineon Launches EZ-USB™ FX2G3: A High-Performance, Secure USB 2.0 Peripheral Controller for Next-Generation Applications

Infineon Technologies AG has introduced its next-generation USB 2.0 peripheral controller, EZ-USB™ FX2G3, designed to deliver outstanding performance, robust security, and advanced power efficiency for USB-enabled devices. Built on the proven EZ-USB™ FX2LP platform, the new controller offers a highly flexible solution for industries that require seamless and secure connectivity.
As demand for fast and secure data transfer continues to rise across multiple sectors, USB technology remains a critical enabler. The EZ-USB FX2G3 integrates a Serial Communication Block (SCB), an on-chip cryptographic engine for enhanced security, and a high-bandwidth data subsystem. This subsystem supports DMA data transfers from LVCMOS inputs to USB outputs at speeds of up to 480 Mbps, making it well suited for USB high-speed host-based systems. In addition, the controller features an integrated 1024 KB SRAM, providing ample buffering capacity to ensure smooth and reliable data flow.
Thanks to its versatility, the EZ-USB FX2G3 can be easily deployed across a wide range of applications. In biometric systems, it enables fast and secure fingerprint or facial recognition, offering users convenient and protected access. In healthcare, the controller supports portable diagnostic equipment, imaging systems, and patient monitoring devices, helping medical professionals deliver more efficient care. For industrial applications, it facilitates real-time data acquisition and communication in robotics and automation systems, boosting operational efficiency. In the consumer electronics space, its speed and power efficiency enhance the performance of gaming devices, audio peripherals, and other USB accessories, creating more engaging user experiences. In robotics, the EZ-USB FX2G3 enables sensor integration and advanced control, delivering high responsiveness in both industrial and consumer-grade designs.
