JDI Announces Cooperation with Huaxing Optoelectronics on Intellectual Property Authorization

According to the Nikkei Chinese website, Japan Display (JDI) announced on July 13 that it would cooperate with China's CSOT on cross licensing of intellectual property rights in LCD panels. According to this agreement, JDI will receive a license fee from Huaxing Optoelectronics. JDI has advantages in improving the viewing angle of LCD panels.
JDI is currently reviewing the impact of patent licensing fees on the company's profitability in the 2024 fiscal year. If there are any matters that need to be disclosed, IDI said it will promptly disclose them. JDI stated that its advanced technology and intellectual property (IP) assets are important strategic resources, and the company will continue to fully utilize these strategic resources and core capabilities to create long-term value for customers and society.
At present, CSOT's OLED and LCD panel businesses are its development focus. According to the statistics of institutions, in May 2023, TV panel manufacturers in Chinese Mainland accounted for 69% of the world's shipments, of which CSOT shipped more than 4 million pieces that month, with a year-on-year growth of 7.1%, and 55 inch and 75 inch products continued to rank first.
