According to the DigiTimes, Omdia, a research institution, recently lowered its forecast for the shipment of large-sized LCD panels in 2023, from a 0.6% increase to a 3.2% year-on-year decrease.

Currently, some panel manufacturers plan to exit the market, while others plan to close aging factories. Omdia stated in previous predictions that display manufacturers aim to achieve shipment growth by 2023. However, there is currently uncertainty in the recovery of demand for LCD displays, and manufacturers are still under significant pressure. It is expected that once the inventory issue is resolved, the demand for LCD will resume.

The research institution also lowered its forecast for the shipment volume of notebook LCD LCD screens in 2023, from a previous increase of 1.9% to a decrease of 8.1%. At the same time, the agency predicts that the shipment volume of tablet LCD screens will decline by 1.4%.

Omdia said that it is expected that BOE Technology will account for the largest proportion of large TFT LCD panel shipments in 2023, accounting for 33.5%, followed by 13.5% of InnoLux Corporation and 11.5% of CSOT.

The institution predicts that due to slowing demand and the recovery of TFT LCD prices, the revenue of large-sized TFT LCD will reach $65.2 billion in 2023, a year-on-year decrease of 0.9%. Only the LCD TV industry is expected to increase revenue by 13.6%, thanks to the increase in panel prices this year.
