Apple's home-made 5G modem chip will appear in 2025
Oct 09,2022

It is reported that Apple is developing 5G chips for future iPhones, but it is expected that Qualcomm will still be the modem supplier of all iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series, which indicates that Apple's 5G chips will not debut for the first time until 2025 at least.
According to MacRumors, Jeff Pu, analyst of Haitong International Securities, pointed out in the research report that the iPhone model released in 2024 is expected to use the Snapdragon X75 modem that Qualcomm has not yet released.
Prior to the semiconductor supply chain, Apple's 5G modem chip technology has been developed and will be produced by the 4nm process of the 5nm family of TSMC, with an annual production capacity of 120000 pieces, equivalent to 10000 pieces per month, contributing to the potential growth momentum of TSMC in 2023.
