CEVA and Mimi Hearing Technologies collaborate to promote the development of assisted hearing for the true wireless headset market

Dec 24,2021

CEVA, the world's leading licensee of wireless connectivity and smart sensing technology and integrated IP solutions (NASDAQ: CEVA) and global hearing health giant Mimi Hearing Technologies announced their cooperation to introduce Mimi's advanced hearing IP to the CEVA Bluebud wireless audio platform .

This cooperation aims to vigorously develop the fast-growing hearing aid product market and lower the barriers for enterprises to develop hearing aids and TWS headsets, thereby providing all users with a safe and customizable listening experience. The two companies will showcase Mimi Sound Personalization technology and features at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA from January 5 to 8, 2022.

Assistive hearing devices that can be bought anywhere and are affordable have quickly become a substitute for medical-grade hearing aids to meet the huge market demand for various levels of personal hearing correction functions. Market research firm Juniper Research predicts that hearing aid headset shipments will exceed 92 million units in 2024, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 46% from 2020 to 2024. In addition, it is expected that most TWS earplugs and headphones will adopt this intelligent hearing technology, further expanding the market space for sound personalization software in the next few years.

Mimi's Sound Personalization technology can use the Mimi Hearing Test to evaluate the hearing of the listener within a few minutes. After the test, a Mimi Hearing ID is created and stored in the headset. No matter where the user listens, the headset will adjust the sound according to this unique user hearing configuration, so that the user can hear more sounds, or restore the lost listening details, thereby creating a more immersive feeling Smart listening experience.

CEVA's DSP-supported Bluebud wireless audio platform provides semiconductor and system companies with drop-in IP solutions, solving the industry's complex technical problems in developing smart TWS and wireless headset audio ICs. By integrating software on the CEVA-BX1 DSP in the plan, performance improvement and differentiation can be easily achieved. CEVA and Mimi transplanted sound personalization technology to the Bluebud platform, opening up the market for wireless audio technology, and can use cost-saving and energy-saving methods to provide value-added hearing aid functions on any TWS IC assisted by Bluebud.

Mimi CEO Philipp Skribanowitz said: "We have used the Mimi Hearing Test app to conduct more than 2 million personal hearing tests, and learned that everyone hears different sounds, which motivates us to work hard to bridge this gap. In cooperation with CEVA, a global leader in the field of Bluetooth audio platform IP, we have taken an important step towards the popularization of sound personalization software. CEVA has an outstanding customer base and market coverage in the headset field. Our cooperation can help The listening function is brought to the general public."

Moshe Sheier, vice president of marketing at CEVA, said: "The ear-worn device market is growing rapidly, and the range of technologies contained in these amazing products is also rapidly expanding. Assisted hearing and voice personalization are the two most interesting to consumers today. In the field, our cooperation with Mimi aims to provide each user with the best listening experience. Our Bluebud wireless audio platform essentially simplifies the development of TWS and headphone audio ICs. It also supports software such as Mimi Sound Personalization, making OEM and ODM manufacturers can truly differentiate their customers' listening experience."
