Infineon Launches Third-Generation XENSIV™ 3D Magnetic Hall Sensors for Automotive, Industrial, and Consumer Applications

Infineon Technologies AG has unveiled its third-generation XENSIV™ 3D magnetic Hall-effect sensor family, further strengthening its leadership in magnetic sensing technology. The new lineup includes three distinct product series — TLE493D-W3B6-Bx, TLE493D-P3B6, and TLE493D-P3I8 — all developed in compliance with ISO 26262 functional safety standards. These sensors feature integrated diagnostics and are designed to support applications requiring safety up to ASIL-B.
With exceptional versatility, these devices are ideal for a wide range of uses across the automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics sectors. Applications include long-stroke linear position sensing, angle detection, vehicle interior and under-the-hood controls, as well as pedal and valve position monitoring. The ability to accurately measure magnetic fields in three orthogonal directions enables enhanced control across various systems — from infotainment to powertrain components.
Key Features and Capabilities
The TLE493D-X3XX series supports operation over I²C or SPI communication protocols and delivers precise 3D magnetic field measurements with improved sensitivity and accuracy. These sensors exhibit minimal drift over their lifetime, with a deviation of less than 1.7% for X/Y axes and 6.75% for Z-axis, ensuring consistent performance over time.
With their flexible design and platform adaptability, they help reduce the number of components required, streamlining integration and lowering system complexity. Their ultra-low power consumption, enabled by a built-in wake-up mode, makes them well-suited for energy-sensitive applications.
Key specifications include:
• 3D magnetic field detection ranges of ±50 mT, ±100 mT, and ±160 mT
• Support for 3.3V and 5V supply voltages
• Operating temperature range of -40°C to +150°C
• Compact package and high configurability for embedded systems
These capabilities make the XENSIV™ 3D Hall sensors especially effective in applications such as multifunctional steering wheel controls, navigation inputs, and automotive infotainment components, where precision and robustness are essential.
With the introduction of this new sensor generation, Infineon continues to lead innovation in magnetic sensing, offering scalable, high-performance solutions that meet the growing demands for safety, reliability, and efficiency across modern electronics platforms.
