Infineon Partners with UL Solutions to Accelerate ISO 26262 Functional Safety Compliance for Automotive Customers

Aug 14,2025

Infineon Technologies AG has entered into a strategic collaboration with UL Solutions to help its automotive customers achieve ISO 26262 functional safety compliance more efficiently. ISO 26262 is the internationally recognized standard that defines processes for managing and reducing safety risks in electrical and electronic systems within vehicles—an essential requirement for reliable connectivity, electric vehicles (EVs), and advanced levels of autonomous driving.

Under the partnership, UL Solutions’ Software-Intensive Systems Group will deliver tailored training, consulting services, and independent assessment activities to Infineon’s customers. This support will guide them in correctly applying Infineon chipsets in ASILx-level applications to meet ISO 26262 standards—enhancing vehicle safety, lowering product development costs, and shortening the average time-to-market for new vehicles.

Bill Stewart, Vice President of Marketing for Infineon Americas, stated:
“With the rapid rise of electrification, automation, and driver assistance systems, functional safety remains a critical priority for OEMs and their customers. Through our collaboration with UL Solutions, automotive customers will gain robust tools and support to achieve ISO 26262 compliance, ensuring their systems remain safe, reliable, and secure throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle. This partnership also offers resources to keep systems updated over time.”

UL Solutions’ services will primarily support Infineon’s AURIX™ and TRAVEO™ T2G microcontrollers, OPTIREG™ PMICs (power management ICs), MOTIX™ gate drivers, and XENSIV™ sensors.

Florian Schmidt, Senior Director and General Manager of UL Solutions’ Mobility and Critical Systems Division, commented:
“Functional safety is a cornerstone of automotive design. Our partnership with Infineon will provide their customers with our comprehensive service portfolio, enabling faster time-to-market while fostering innovation, expanding market reach, and ensuring seamless integration of safety, security, and sustainability. Together, we aim to build a safer, more secure, and more sustainable digital world.”

Infineon remains a global leader in the automotive semiconductor market, with products supporting key applications including driver assistance and safety systems, powertrain and battery management, comfort and infotainment, and vehicle security.
