TDK Launches IAM-20680HV: A High-Performance, Cost-Effective Six-Axis IMU for Automotive Applications

Tokyo, Japan – TDK Corporation (TSE: 6762) announced the global availability of the InvenSense SmartAutomotive™ IAM-20680HV, a high-value six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) designed for a wide range of in-cabin automotive applications. Built to withstand harsh conditions, this sensor maintains reliable performance at ambient temperatures up to +105 °C and endures environments reaching +125 °C.
The IAM-20680HV integrates a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis accelerometer into a compact 3 x 3 x 0.75 mm³, 16-pin LGA package. It is fully pin- and register-compatible with other TDK SmartAutomotive™ MEMS sensors using LGA packages, ensuring design scalability and platform flexibility. An optional ±125 dps full-scale gyroscope range enables higher resolution, supporting smooth navigation and precise motion tracking.
This new addition complements TDK’s growing IMU portfolio, delivering an optimal balance between cost-efficiency and performance to meet the evolving needs of automotive applications that do not require safety-critical ASIL certification.
Offering industry-leading low noise, tight sensitivity tolerances, and high reliability, the IAM-20680HV enables engineers to enhance functionality across a broad set of applications including GNSS modules, HUDs, navigation systems, telematics units, door modules, and crash/event data recorders.
